Dealing With Bratty Kids After A Sleepover With The Grandparents

I love that my girls get to see my parents quite often. And I love it even more that my parents are always up for hosting the gals for a few nights. I'm telling ya, it's like a win-win. The girls get great bonding time with their grandparents and the hubby and I get to reconnect. But what I can't stand is the 48-hour "grandparent detox" period I have to endure when my daughters return. It just plain sucks! Take a look.

I know what you mean! I don’t know what happened to my parents! My kids get away with murder compared to what I got away with! But as you said – that’s what grandparents are for. Their turn is over. It’s my turn now. :)

Free child care is the best!

  2. Tis true! Tis true!

i echo what you and jendi said about grandparents. thats is what they are there for.
    I can’t wait until I am a grandparent…

Ahh! Sweet Bliss. Or so it seems.

    Jendi,

yes, it’s amazing what my parents allow with their grand kids that they never alllowed with my sisters and I. I have fabulous memories of visits with my grandparents so I really should stop with the whining! And yes, there’s nothing like high quality “free” childcare – it’s the best!

    Alexes,
Sometimes I think my dad had a lobotomy! He’s such a different grandfather than father. But that’s what happens when you have grandkids. I can’t wait to torture my daughter one day!! LOL.

  5. I can totally relate!!! Just got our son back from a night at Gran and Grandad’s and he was sooooo upset…he said he wanted to stay with gran and grandad forrrrrever. {heartbreaking} But when I pressed him for dets he admitted it was for all the “sweeties” and sleeping in their bed with them and just having fun. But yes, it is brilliant to have them so close and that they have such a loving albeit “spoiling” relationship with our dear son…wouldn’t want it any other way! Imen x

Imen, how could you not love “sweeties” and sleeping in the big bed with the grandparents!? Love that I’m not the only who sees the joys and frustrations of g-parent detox!

So true! But the other thing I like? When my kids come home from my parents’ house, they sleep constantly because my parents wore them out!

Angela, you are lucky! My gals are usually so “over tired” that it takes them a few days to get back on track! Even so, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
