How To Vlog: What Kind of Video Camera to Use

Whenever I talk to people about learning how to video blog one of the first questions they ask is “what’s the best video camera to use.” If you’re just starting out I suggest using one of the many different mini hd video cameras on the market. The mini cameras are small, easy to use and come with a u-s-b port that you can plug right into your computer to make uploading video a snap.
I’ve been using the Kodak ZI8 since it came out last year and am a huge fan of it. It’s super duper easy to use and you can buy a memory card with lots of recording space. But I think one of the coolest features of the ZI8 is the external microphone input. Which means you can buy a plug in mic and really improve the sound quality of your video interviews.
I agree. I use the FLIP camera and actually used it to video a presentation I gave at a writers’ meeting. I think it’s so easy to use.
I like the notion of simple being best, however, I have a very specific vlog in mind. I’d like to offer tutorials which would involve closeups of my hands making things. What camera do you suggest for this type of recording? Thanks!
wow great video…but you never mentioned the name of a video camera…why is that?
