How to Vlog: Getting Started & Basic Tools

Over the weekend I had a fabulous opportunity to be a part of the Vlogging Panel at EVO 10 (The Evolution of Women in Social Media) in Park City, Utah.  Since my return I’ve had a lot of follow up questions about video blogging or inquiries from people who didn’t get a chance to make it to the vlogging session. So, I figured I’d make a nice little “how to” vlogging video list for those just starting out or wanting a refresher.

As my list of video tutorials continues to grow I will add it here. In the meantime, if you have any vlogging questions or concerns please feel free to leave me a comment or email your question. I will do my best to answer it via email or with a video tutorial.  Also, you can find more vlogging tips from both of these great gals, Danielle of ExtraordinaryMommy.com and Jendi of SimpleVloggingTips.com

How to Vlog: What to Wear

In today’s “How to Vlog” segment I talk about something my friend Yoly of YNR Live asked me about awhile back. It’s about “what to wear” while vlogging. I know the obvious answer is clothes. But there are some definite do’s and don’t’s that you might not be aware of.  For example, did you know that prints and logos are a big no-no? Or that certain colors play tricks with the camera lens? Hit the play button for more details.

And ladies putting on a little makeup won’t hurt you either. My theory is – if it makes you feel better – you’ll look better. If you have any vlogging questions please feel free to send me an email: lizzie (at) lizziebtv.com or leave a question in the comments.

Get Your Vlog On (Video Link Up)

getvlogonHappy Wednesday folks! You know what time it is? Time to “Get Your Vlog On!” I’m really feeling the vloggy love this week. I think it has something to do with the fact that I’m heading to the EVO (The Evolution of Women in Social Media) Conference in Park City, Utah this Thursday. I can’t wait to re-connect with all my bloggy pals as well as meet some new ones – it’s going to be Fan-freakin’-tastic! And I don’t think I’ve mentioned anything yet but I’ll be speaking on a panel about Vlogging with some very cool gals (Kadi of GirlyGazette, Meredith of Hoo-dee-hoo, Danielle of ExtraordinaryMommy and Kim of TravelingMom). How lucky am I!?

Okay, time to get to this weeks Get Your Vlog on favorite. If you haven’t seen it – I promise it’ll make you laugh. It’s the video audition from Jenny of Jenny On the Spot.

Now it’s time to link up your favorite vlog post of this week. Remember, I’m not looking for perfection I’m looking to build a community of video gals who enjoy expressing themselves thru vlogging. If you want to sing, dance, cook or clean – go for it! And don’t forget, every week I’ll pick one vlog to feature later in the week here at Lizziebtv.com.

Here’s what to do:

  • Link up your favorite vlog of the week
  • PLEASE be sure to link back here in your own blog. In fact, please feel free to use my “Get Your Vlog On” button!!
  • Leave a comment.  If you’d like vlogging tips on your video – just ask in the comments

Parenting/Family Expert Joanne Stern

627_purchase_r1_c3

Now that I’m a mom I often wonder why there’s no formal training for new parents. Seriously, it’s one of the most important jobs in the world yet there’s no school for “how to be a good parent.” I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve cried myself to sleep wondering if I’m doing this parenting thing the right way.

Thank goodness I found author and psychotherapist,  Joanne Stern.  She’s helping parents like myself make sense of it all.  In her book “Parenting is a Contact Sport“, Stern gives parents 8-ways we can stay connected to our kids for life. Yes, even while we’re living in this 24/7 digital world.

Of course once I started asking Stern questions I didn’t want our interview to end. She had endless tips and information every parent can use.

Here’s part 1 of my interview with Stern:

Stay tuned for more of my interview with Joanne Stern. In the meantime, you can find out more about her book and the works she’s doing HERE.

For those that are always wondering what to vlog about keep your video camera handy this summer – I’m sure your kids will provide plenty of fodder!

LOL.
