When the calendar reads April and the temperature reads 70-degrees in San Francisco that means one thing baby - time for some family bonding time at the beach! So, we dusted off last season’s swimsuits (the girls bathing suits- “not” mine), plenty of sunsreen, a full ice chest and headed to the beach. Cleaning up after we got home was a pain in the arse but boy was it worth it.
I’d love to hear how you and your family spend “quality time” together. Tell me, by leaving a comment.
Yes, it may be Earth Day but for my little girls today is no different, they seem to celebrate our great planet every day. They’re constantly reminding me and my husband to be kinder and gentler to this planet we live on. Whether it’s reusing grocery bags, walking to the market or composting leftovers my little ladies are leading a much “greener” lifestyle than I did at their young age.
My Earth Angels
In honor of Earth Day, I wanted to let you know that I did a guest vlog post for Project Nursery, a website dedicated to baby’s first room and beyond. I grabbed my handy little video camera and stopped by Giggle to find out what the top picks in Eco-Friendly Baby products are these days. It’s amazing how many more companies are doing things the “right” way. To see the video segment go visit Project Nursery.
One of the things I love about living in the Bay Area is that when it comes to new technology (like 3D tv) we hear about it and see it first. In fact, a few nights ago Beth Blecherman of Techmamas and SVMoms invited me to a cool event at CNET headquarters. For the first time, CNET held a live, hands-on demo of the newest 3D tv technology for our homes. So, for those that didn’t make it to CES (Consumer Electronics Show) earlier this year – this was clearly the next best thing.
I admit initially I was a bit skeptical about this 3D tv stuff. But now that I’ve checked it out – Wow! I so get it. It’s like HD television on steroids – you really feel like you’re there. I can’t wait, in a few years I’ll be hanging out on the sofa with the girls watching a 3D adaptation of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory – that would be cool.
Now, I’t’s no big secret – 3D tv’s fall into the “luxury” category. But like anything else, in a few years the hefty price tags are expected to go down and purchasing the technology for the home won’t sound so ridiculous. Currently, a plasma 3D tv will set you back about $2,500 bucks (and that’s on the low end). Plus, you have to add in the costs of a 3D blu-ray player (another $250 bucks) and 3D glasses (about $150 a pair).
Hello, hello and welcome to LizzieB TV! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my vlog. If it’s your first time stopping by (I sure hope it’s not your last) – I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself, right? Well, I live in San Francisco, California with my husband and two young daughters. I’ve been doing online videos or webisodes about parenting and mom’s since 2006 but just launched my own video blog last year. In all honesty, I’m not big on writing about myself – I promise if you take a look at some of my videos (you can find some here in the blog section or back on the home page) you’ll see pretty quickly what I’m all about. Bascially, I like to share some of the not so “glamorous” sides of motherhood and capture it on video. I like to help others who are thinking about vlogging – so, I also offer basic vlogging tips in some of my vlogs. And I like to vlog about raising a family in San Francisco.
I know I thanked you for stopping by – but a huge thanks to Susan and Janice. I’ve been lucky enough to meet them both this past year and they are two of the funniest, sweetest, non-stop talking twins I’ve ever met!! Thanks for inviting me to my very first Ultimate Blog Party with 5 Minutes for Mom!!
I often hear people say they want to start vlogging but don’t have the right camera or the right equipment. Don’t let that be an excuse. In this short vlog I show you how simple it is to start vlogging using the webcam you already have in your computer!
So what is "LizzieBtv" and why should you care? Well, I'm LizzieB - a former tv news anchor and reporter who spent 15-plus years working days, nights, early mornings, holidays and weekends to bring viewers the news of the day.
For a good long time, I thrived on reporting breaking news and anchoring from the set. The daily dose of heart pumping adrenaline was addictive. But several years ago I took a fabulous life detour. I got married, had a baby, quit my tv news job and ended up with a nasty dose of postpartum depression. (It's real Tom, just ask Brooke!)
In the blink of an eye, I went from a career woman dressed in snazzy suits with very big hair and camera ready makeup to a crazy lady who was constantly harried, unprepared and disheveled. I won't lie, I was a new mom and I was a mess.
Fortunately, my love for reporting kicked in and I delved into researching all things mom-related.
Look, I'm no expert. I'm a real mom, wife, friend and daughter trying to balance it all. I don't know everything and never will, but I have learned a few parenting tips and tricks along the way and I want to share them with you. And hopefully you can enlighten me with your motherhood triumphs and challenges as well.
Whether you stay for two minutes or two hours - thanks for dropping by LizzieBtv... the place where you'll always find "views of a real mom" not a super mom. Welcome to the journey!
