Behind the Scenes of a Talk Show: LizzieB on The View From the Bay

Ever watch a talk show and wonder what in the world goes on behind the scenes? Well, I’m gonna show you!  Today, I brought my video camera along while I got ready for a live tv segment on ABC-7’s, The View From the Bay. Let me tell you there’s a whole lot of prepping that goes way before the show ever goes live. Including me practicing my “eco-friendly products” segment at home in between preschool drop off and pick up. Take a look…

So, did you love the video of me with no makeup and the crooked glasses at the beginning of the video? Or how about me at the end with eyeliner sliding down my eyes? LOL. It was a long day but I can’t begin to tell you how much I love doing “live” television. I think part of it is the adrenaline rush I get that reminds me of my old tv news days.

Oh, I guess I should tell you a bit about my actual segment.  It featured all my favorite eco-friendly products for families. And folks,  as much as I wish I was getting paid (boy, how I wish), I did “not” get paid by any of the companies.

Lake Tahoe Winter Road Trip

If you live on the East Coast you may be sick of the snow by now but for a lot of us folks living out West – it’s a rare treat. Last week, while the kids were on winter break I decided to pack up the kids and head to Lake Tahoe in search of some snow.  Here’s a little video recap of our trip north. It involved lots o’ driving, sledding, my daughter’s first ski lesson, getting back up on a snowboard after a 4-year hiatus, a little lip-synching and even an appearance by “Big Papa.” LOL, I’m not sure why I just called my hubby “Big Papa?” Must be missing those crazy Housewives of Atlanta! Anyway, it was a brutal drive but loads of fun!

Vacation/Winter Break/Holiday is Over!

I know, I know vacation is over.  I can see it on my calendar. Today is Wednesday, January 5th 2010 and I’m still struggling to get back into the swing of things. I guess that’s what happens when the kids are home for a month long Holiday break and I get sicker than a dog.

Bare with me.  I promise I’ll get back to my old routine.  I can’t imagine I’m the only one feeling this way. Are you having a tough time dealing with “re-entry” after the long break? I can’t be the only one – can I?

Lizziebtv: Last Minute Christmas Shopping

Yes, it’s true. I’ve been down for the count the past two weeks. And when you’re a known procrastinator like myself that’s never good – especially around the holidays. Not sure if it was the medication that zapped my brain cells or just a bout of motherhood insanity? Regardless, what I did earlier today was absolutely N-U-T-S!!

I Love the 80’s!

IMG_0785I’m not embarrassed to say it, “I love the 80’s!” I’m sure I have a diary entry somewhere that reads “…when I grow up I want to be just like Coco (ya know, Irene Cara’s character from the film, Fame).” I think it was a combo of my young age,  the music and the fashion. Truth be known, I listen to 80’s music all the time. In fact, my I-pod is loaded with tunes from Culture Club, Madonna, Donna Summer and The Go-Go’s. And as much as I love me some 80’s fashion I did make a promise to my husband never to wear my acid-washed jeans, fingerless lace gloves and leg warmers out in public. So, imagine my excitement when I was walking thru Baby Gap recently and spotted the cutest little leg warmers ever! Of course I bought them – didn’t even think twice.

Well, I quickly came off my leg warmer high. My 4-year old said the new tubes I was holding were ugly and she’d never wear them. I was bummed. But then like all quick-thinking mothers do – I made something up. I remembered my daughter’s ballet teacher (Ms. T) wears leg warmers. And in my daughter’s eyes, Ms. T can do no wrong. So, I told her it would make Ms. T soooooo happy if she wore her new leg warmers to class. And guess what? It worked. That’s if you count the two minutes she wore them before complaining and whining that they itched her legs. Fortunately, I had my I-phone on me and snapped this photo. I love it! My little “Coco” – if even for just a moment.
